06 - Improvement Proposals

This section documents potential enhancements and evolution opportunities for the project. These are suggestions for future development phases, not requirements for current features.

Frontend Enhancements

1. Component Library / Storybook

Current State: Components built ad-hoc for each feature.

Proposal: Develop a reusable component library with Storybook documentation.

  • Standardize button, form, card, modal components
  • Document component variants and props
  • Enable design system consistency
  • Benefit: Reduce code duplication, faster feature development

Estimation: 1-2 weeks

2. Advanced Form Validation

Current State: Client-side validation via React Hook Form.

Proposal: Integrate zod or yup for schema-based validation.

import { z } from 'zod';

const brickSchema = z.object({
  number: z.string().min(1).max(100),
  title: z.string().min(1),
  tags: z.array(z.string()),
  imageBase64: z.string().optional(),
});

export const useBrickForm = () => {
  const form = useForm({
    resolver: zodResolver(brickSchema),
  });
};
  • Shared validation logic between frontend and backend
  • Better error messages
  • Easier to maintain and test

Estimation: 3-5 days

3. Offline Support / Service Workers

Current State: No offline capability.

Proposal: Add service worker for offline caching and sync.

  • Cache API responses for offline viewing
  • Queue mutations (create/update/delete) offline
  • Sync when reconnected

Technology: Workbox or similar

Benefit: Better UX on unreliable networks

Estimation: 1-2 weeks

4. Internationalization (i18n)

Current State: UI text in French and English mixed.

Proposal: Centralize translations with react-i18next.

import { useTranslation } from 'react-i18next';

export const BrickForm = () => {
  const { t } = useTranslation();
  return <TextField label={t('brick.number')} />;
};

    externalLinks {
      name
      url
    }
  }
}

Benefits: - Precise data fetching - Reduced over-fetching - Self-documenting API

        return new BrickListResponse(brickRepository.findAll());
    }

    @CacheEvict(value = \"bricks\", allEntries = true)

Prioritization Framework

When deciding what to implement next, consider:

Factor Weight Scoring
User demand 30% (1=low, 5=high)
Business impact 25% Feature revenue/cost savings
Technical debt 20% Prevents future work?
Effort 15% Days to implement
Risk 10% Breaking changes / complexity

Example: Event Sourcing scores high on technical debt but low on immediate user demand.

Next Steps

  1. Quarterly Review: Reassess priorities based on user feedback
  2. RFC Process: For major proposals, create Request for Comments
  3. Proof of Concept: For uncertain proposals, build MVP first
  4. Stakeholder Alignment: Involve users in prioritization
